Announcement Regarding 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Course Counting and Course Exemption Procedures


Our Graduate School 2024-2025 Academic Year Spring Semester Course Counting and Adjustment Procedures will be made between February 24, 2025, and March 7, 2025, in accordance with sub-paragraph a (the first two weeks of the semester in which they started education) of the 3rd paragraph of the 10th article of the SDU Graduate Education and Training Directive.

In the 3rd paragraph of Article 10 (titled Course Counting and Course Exemption) of the Graduate Education and Training Directive of our university;

a) Students who are entitled to enroll in a graduate program or who come by transfer must apply to the relevant Graduate School Department (EABD) Presidency with a petition for course counting and exemption within the first two weeks of the academic semesters, once during the academic year. Course counting and exemption requests made by students in the following weeks are not accepted. (Amended by the senate decision dated 22/06/2023 and numbered 621/11)

b) Students who have previously taken courses in graduate student status and whose registration has been deleted, a maximum of five courses (excluding seminar course and specialization course) with a passing grade of at least 2.0 for each course in master's degree and at least 2.5 for doctorate/proficiency in arts over the 4 point grade system on the dates specified in the academic calendar of the relevant institute, Provided that the credits and contents of the courses required to be taken in the graduate program to which the student is accepted are appropriate, it can be counted with the student's application, the opinion of the student's advisor, the proposal of the EABD/EASD board, and the decision of the Institute Administrative Board (EYK). c) In one semester, a student can choose courses with a maximum of 42 ECTS credits, excluding exemption/adjustment procedures.

ç) The courses taken by a student who graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program (except for the courses including pedagogical formation and scientific research techniques and research and publication ethics) cannot be counted for the master's or doctorate/proficiency in art program. Students who have previously taken and succeeded in courses including pedagogical formation, scientific research techniques, and research and publication ethics can be exempted with the proposal of the advisor, the recommendation of the EABD/EASD chairmanship, and the decision of the EYK, provided that the credits and contents of the courses are appropriate. The relevant course is shown as exempt on the transcript, is not counted towards the credit load, and is not included in the weighted grade point average calculation.

d) The courses taken by a student who graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program cannot be taken again in the master's or doctorate/proficiency in art program.

 

In accordance with the above-mentioned provisions of the Graduate Education and Training Directive of our university, our graduate students who want to request course counting and course exemption must apply to the department heads until the end of working hours on Friday, March 7, 2025, with the Course Counting and Course Exemption Form from the document archive on the web page of our institute, together with the document showing the credits and contents of the courses and the approved transcript document (transcript).
